Looks like you're having trouble with the Windows driver and
ndiswrapper.

Which wireless card is it? Which chipset? (What does lspci say?)

There might be a native Linux driver available.

I extracted the bcm43xx firmware but can't seem to get the system to see the card with out ndiswrapper.  I did try to start working with the firmware after I started getting this message.

I have a Dell TrueMobile 1390 802.11g
