Hello,

I managed to wipe out my /boot
directory while trying to back it up to
CD. I reinstalled the kernel and grub
files but have no:

/grub/splash.xpm.gz

or:

/initrd/2.6.16-1.2122_FC5.img

Where can i find these?

What is ?:

/initrd/2.6.16-1.2122_FC5.img

initrd=Initial Ram Disk

You'll need to "roll your own" with
mkinitrd. See "man mkinitrd".
As for the splash screen...that is in
the fedora-logos rpm. You can
extract it from there.

How do you end up wiping out something you're making a backup of? I can
imagine stuffing up a restoration, but during a backup?

I was backing up, using K3b, dragging and dropping files and exceeded
the maximum cd capacity. So I tried to delete some files from the K3b
project to fit.

I tried removing all kernels and reinstalled the last two. That worked.

Ed and Tim,

Thank You So Much For Your Help.
