Greetings all,
I have downloaded the FC5 isos and, after burning the first one, I
found that the media check failed when I booted. Is there any way of
checking the correctness of the download step separate from the
burning step? The disk image mounted successfully with mount "loop"
option.
There should be a SHA1SUM file with checksums.

sha1sum -c SHASUM

I know I will hear from the open (free) software advocates but if you
are having trouble burning and checking you CD-s I would suggest buying
the CD-s for someone like www.cheapbytes.com. They are cheap, they are
error free and your time and aggravation is worth the $10+ cost.

Bear in mind that there are issues with mediacheck even for perfectly-burned media (kernel bug affecting some IDE CD readers), so buying the CDs is no guarantee of passing mediacheck.

Paul.
