| I was looking at getting a Dell UltraSharp monitor and was warned by a friend
| that some LCD monitors don't work with Linux. Does anyone know of large LCD
| monitor which will work with Fedora . And would there be a dependency on
| version. I still have some boxes running Fedora 3 and Fedora 2 .

I have a dell 24" (1920x1200 and 30" (2560x1600) LCDs. They work with
Fedora (4 and 5 respectively).

Warning 1: the resolutions (modelines) are not in the older X servers.
You need to add modelines. The 1920x1200 is in FC4 and FC5. Here's
the modeline I use for 2560x1600:
        ModeLine "2560x1600" 268.0 2560 2608 2640 2720 1600 1603 1609 1646

Warning 2: it is tricky to get a video card to support the 30" under
Linux. It requires "dual link" DVI support (this does not mean two
DVI connectors). The ATI cards that do this (x1000 series) do not
have X drivers (neither open source nor proprietary). Only the
expensive nVidia cards can do it (7800 and 7900).
