This is exactly what I experienced. But, it was on Centos 4.2. But, I think it's very similar. What makes it worse is that it was an active mailserver. The problems occurred when users complained that they cannot receive any mails anymore. When I looked deeper into the log, I've got those timed outs too. And after few hours, the problem got worsened that the /home partition became read-only! So, I setup a replacement server, and moved the troubled server onto my desk (out of the server room)... and this was what amazed me: it RUNS ok! Running smartcl check several times gave no error at all! I test the server for a week, and it's still ok. So, the only thing that I can think of that causing it is that I place the server too close to the UPS (less than 50cm). So, the electromagnetic disturbance must have affected the memory of the server. Maybe you've got something that affects the memory too? -- Fajar Priyanto | Reg'd Linux User #327841 | Linux tutorial http://linux2.arinet.org 17:06:13 up 8:31, 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5 GNU/Linux Let's use OpenOffice. http://www.openoffice.org
