This is really a LONG story.....

Short Version
(1)  Sun filed a lawsuit against Linux & Microsoft
(2)  Sun won the lawsuit and all parties came to a compromise.
(3)  Sun is now the sole source for the complete JAVA system.

** Yes, I know you can get it through extras  And there are many RPM
distributions cropping back up.**
