Doesn't this leave you with two copies of the codec files, one under /usr/local and one under /usr. Why do you want that? There are codec rpms on the mplayer site that can save you this trouble. http://rpm.greysector.net/mplayer/ Follow the link on the left side where it says "CVS" versions. On my system, I'm running: $ rpm -qa | grep mplayer mplayer-gui-1.0pre7-1 mplayer-codecs-20050412-1 mplayer-1.0pre7-1 mplayer-codecs-extra-20050412-1 mplayer-font-iso1-1.1-1 mplayer-skin-default-1.4-1 The codec rpm drops the codec files into: /usr/lib/codecs I also have this related one from a separate site mplayerplug-in-3.11-fc4 The mplayer-plugin is a big help, because if you have it, most of the commercial streaming video sites will work. I watched CBS NCAA basketball the last two weekends on cbs.com. pj On 3/29/06, Nat Gross <nat101l@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > On 3/29/06, jim lawrence <fedorajim@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > On 3/29/06, Nat Gross <nat101l@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > > Hi; > > > I have read and reread.... all kinds of info on mplayer codecs. > > > Simple question(s). > > > 1) WHERE do I install the codec(s)?
