If I'm not mistaken, GNU nano is installed by default. It's actually rather
nice once you get the hang of it. :)

You can also install Vim (a Vi workalike with some nicer features etc.), but
that one takes some getting used to and can have a rather steep learning curve
if you're not already somewhat familiar with it.
