I have the same issue as this. I submitted a bug report but it still
isn't fixed in the Core distribution.

As of last night it still is happening.
I can make an image using k3b and then burn that to the DVD with no
problems using the same files/directories.
In my case I could not make the images. Opening the Details button told me
what the problem was. Are there no clues in there for you? Since I resolved
my naming problems k3b is burning on-the-fly without problems.

No clues other than Growisofs didn't finish. I have had issues with
fonts but that isn't the case here since I can make the isos.
I have gone around in circles on this one.
