I can't check if it will solve the problem, as I am on holiday until monday. I am confident that this is a good advice, especially taking in account that this machine has been updated many times since 2001. Shall I have to copy nsswitch.conf ?? but from where, from glibc.rpm package?? and how to extract it?? and after that I have to override the existing nsswitch.conf in /etc, am I correct?? May I copy it from a working machine??? -- Antonio Montagnani Skype : antoniomontag
