I've gotten the HPLIP package from sourceforge, and have done $ ./configure --disable-network-build $ make both of which ran to completion, seeemingly without error. When when I try to do the # make install it fails, unable to find the file /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/pcardext.so There are a bunch of files in that directory, but the file pcardext.so indeed does not exist. I wonder why configure didn't find that out? Anyway, I wonder what to do about that. Is anyone willing to help? If so, what should I do? Also, I saw a patch file for the version I downloaded (also on sourceforge) but patch couldn't find the file to modify, and I couldn't figure it out either, since none of the files looked like the "original" in the patch. I can explain it for you, but I can't understand it for you. I speak only for myself, and I am unanimous in that!
