I'm on cable, have seen download speeds as high as 1000kB/s, and after
the first 2-3 minutes which were un-broken it also plays a few seconds and
pauses for one second then plays 2-4 more seconds and pauses for a second.
I'm running an Athlon XP 2600+ with a gig of RAM so it shouldn't be
any bottleneck on my end causing it.

BTW I listen to other internet radio stations and even streaming video
without such problems.
