Problem with xorg.conf getting overwritten on reboot.

This is a new phenomenon for me. I have an NVIDIA card with the downloaded driver. (I don't know if that's important.) When I reboot, the xorg.conf is different than before the reboot. It has a screen size set to 800x600. I have to manually change it back to 1600x1200. Anyone know how I can prevent the overwrite on reboot?

TIA
