Nit picky stuf

I have a HP Pavilion DV4000 Laptop running FC4. It works wonderfully
well. That stated, there are a few little nit picky things that bug me.
Some of the buttons on it don't work the way they do with that "other"
OS. There is a "Wireless" button that disables the wireless function
that I would like to work. I am an astronomer and when I'm out in the
field I would like to disable wireless to save the battery. I'm not
sure if "ifconfig eth1 down" actually turns off the wireless
transmitter. I know that pushing this button under the "other" OS does
turn it off. Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated. Is
there a way to link a command to this button?
Thanks
Doug P
