Bonjour, I try to have nfs working on a private network to allow some machines to mount a directory from the server. my exports file: /home/guillaume 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0(rw,no_root_squash,sync) hosts.deny: portmap: ALL lockd : ALL mountd : ALL rquotad : ALL statd : ALL hosts.allow: portmap: 127.0.0.1, 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 : allow mountd : 127.0.0.1, 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 : allow nfsd : 127.0.0.1, 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 : allow statd : 127.0.0.1, 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 : allow lockd : 127.0.0.1, 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 : allow At nfs start-up: kernel: NFSD: recovery directory /var/lib/nfs/v4recovery doesn't exist kernel: NFSD: starting 90-second grace period rpc.idmapd: nfsdreopen: Opening '' failed: errno 2 (No such file or directory) At nsf stop: kernel: rpc.mountd: Caught signal 15, un-registering and exiting. kernel: nfsd: last server has exited kernel: nfsd: unexporting all filesystems kernel: RPC: error 5 connecting to server localhost kernel: RPC: failed to contact portmap (errno -5). portmap is running So sometimes (I don't know why!) mountd fails to start and the clients cannot connect.... Thanks for help. PS. I have a firewall on the server which allows everything on lo and private network: /sbin/iptables -A INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT /sbin/iptables -A OUTPUT -o lo -j ACCEPT /sbin/iptables -A INPUT -i eth1 -s 192.168.1.0/24 -j ACCEPT /sbin/iptables -A OUTPUT -o eth1 -d 192.168.1.0/24 -j ACCEPT (eth1 is the private network interface) -- François Patte UFR de mathématiques et informatique Université Paris 5 - Paris http://www.math-info.univ-paris5.fr/~patte
