Hello:

I am starting a partition on my new HD. It will be a
Windows-FC4 dual boot.
Should the swap and Fedora partitions be primary,
logical or a logical/primary combination?

Thanks!

Probably a primary partition for windows, a 100 MB primary for /boot, a primary for /home, then allow the rest of swap, system file systems to be contained within an LVM which is probably going to be replaced between newer version installations. I don't hink that having different partitions contained wirthin an extended partition would make much difference. My partition scheme is below on a 40 Gig drive. /var is pretty empty now but is filled up on occasion.

Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda2 16425032 6195672 9381532 40% /
/dev/hda1 101086 12114 83753 13% /boot
/dev/shm 322380 0 322380 0% /dev/shm
/dev/hda3 9920624 4292788 5115768 46% /home
/dev/hda6 10605128 378108 9679608 4% /var
