I would have thought that the modules.conf entry change would have fixed the problem. If possible can you reboot the system itself and then check restarting the network. If you cannot do that then shutdown the network and run '/sbin/rmmod bonding'. Then start up the network again. I want to be sure that the module picks up the options and should restart with no problem.
