One small exception - the VT (Ctrl-Alt-F1 through F6) have a
scrollback as long as you are at that console. You lose it when
you change to another console, or back to X. (Try Shift-Page Up).
This also works in xterm, and most other X terminal programs. The
difference is that X terms don't lose the scrollback buffer when
you change to another windows.
