The snd-hda-intel driver is still being worked on in Alsa apparently but it basically should work. Some ideas: One laptop here will not produce any sound until you touch some special volume keys outside the main keyboard, FWIW. Get the guy fixed up with mp3 support, or attempt to play an ogg file while intensively trying all the sound mixer options and making sure everything is unmuted. Sample rate mismatch can cause some audio stuff not to output anything, try sending the audio device stuff at 48kHz if possible. -Andy
