Samba and timestamps

I have two Linux machines on my network. Both are set to the same timezone. From the desktop, I copy files to the server via samba.

When I copy a file from the desktop to the server, a local console on each shows the file with the same time. When I view the server file from the desktop, the time is off by 6 hours -- my offset from GMT.

How do I get samba to show the file with the right timestamp?

Should I add "time offset = -600" to smb.conf?
