Basically install your modem with the "ethernet" line on a normal hub;
plug your Linux into that hub.  Under /etc/resolv.conf tell the Linux
box that your DNS is the Comcast Cable box -- probably 10.0.0.1 or
something like that.  Just keep pointing to their name servers:

nameserver 10.67.110.11
nameserver 192.168.110.11

Then, you set your /etc/hosts lines like this
127.0.0.1       localhost.localdomain   localhost
10.0.0.100     inside.private   inside

Make sure your network is plumbed so that you are on the Private NAT
side of the cable modem; but make the default route "the cable modem."

That should do it.
