apologies to all for not reading the rpm man page,
but it was the end of my day, i fired the cmd off,
failed to find it installed, emailed the list and left work.
will verify my error in the am.

Why parameter "-F"? If yum is really not installed, then that command
does nothing going forward.
rpm -Uvh
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/4/i386/yum-2.4.1-1.fc4.noarch.rpm
