I don't know if Celestia has a 64 bit client, but there is nothing to
stop you running the 32 bit client. As far as the others go, you'll
notice a big difference with compiling and editing.

Blank screensaver with a password and set Evolution to download every 10
mins or so (that's all I do)

Just about any should do, though for editing, the more welly in the
processor, the better.
