On a whim, I downgraded the BIOS, and everything worked fine. I
opened a support ticket with the BIOS maker, and I will post their
reply when I get it.
Thanks to everyone for their assistance.

Hi all...
Has anyone gotten an SMP kernel to work with a Pentium-D (Dual Core)
processor?
It should work - in theory - but I haven't been able to get very far
with any of the kernels I have tried.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks...

Try deleting the "quiet" parameter from the kernel command line.
It'll increase the verbosity of the kernel log.
