Thank You,Antonio,
Your script sent in the FML has worked for me, but not until I created
device nodes under /etc/udev/devices.
The 'make install' step creates these nodes under /dev/ which get deleted
during booting and that kills slmodemd started by the init script.(Or
maybe, the route that I took was responsible)
So, in the source package, the makefile needs a change to create these
nodes under '/etc/udev/devices' after checking for udev subsys presence in
the system. Could you please include this in your suggestion to linmodem
ML as I am not a member there.
I have made a request in the bugzilla@livna to build rpm packages from
source for every release of kernel as it will be available for all Fedora
users.They already have slmodem-alsa.
Best Regards and thanks all who helped.

Dear Antonio,
Thank you for the mail.
Have you ever used slmodemd on kernel 2.6.14-1.1637_FC4?
I skipped that kernel and went into 2.6.14-1.1653_FC4. I went from
2.6.12-1.1 ? FC_4 straight into above mentioned kernel. Some problems
were reported earlier and I waited to resolve them. I also compiled a
vanilla kernel but on FC3, the difference is based on preference. You
do not need to compile anything just get kernel and kernel-devel
packages. I did compile on FC3 because of a TV/video card that is not
supported with current stock Fedora kernels. Now the card works, but
I still have to learn on how to use it to capture live tv with linux.
I tried to
compile against this kernel after installing *.src.rpm and I get lot of
error messages.Even ungrab-winmodem source doesn't compile.similar error
messages there.
I have compiled against kernel-2.6.13-1.1532_FC4 without a problem.I am
encouraged to update to the new kernel by your mail.
Have you installed kernel source? Or you use krenl-devel*?I see your
kernel directory is in /lib/modules/.. and wondered how sources are
there?
If you don't mind, may briefly answer.
