2005/12/14, John Kebbel <kebbelj@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>:
I moved .wine to trash as root, logged in as me, used sudo to move the
wine rpm from root to my directory and then changed the owner from root
to ome. Then I tried reinstalling wine. I got this error message:

error: can't create transaction lock on /var/lib/rpm/_db.000

I cd'ed to that directory and there's no visible or invisible _db.000
file. Got a suggestion?

you need to install wine as root... but you dont need to use wine as root.

as user open a terminal...
su -
rpm -i wine-version-release.arch.rpm
exit

then you can run windows apps with
wine /path/to/windowsexefile
just fine as plain user...
