I'm no expert, but it seems like all those patches Redhat made to their FC kernels are necessary. Anyways, here are my instructions for recompiling a FC kernel: http://cjbottaro.speedpost.net/rebuild_kernel_fc3 Note that it uses `uname -r` a lot.
