This is a prolix but a valid step-by-step instruction. You may want to publish
it in a faq.
Valid for your setup. Not generally valid. Won't work on my machine,
for example.
[snip]
# rmdir /mnt/home
# sed "s|/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00|/dev/sda1|" /etc/fstab >/etc/fstab- && \
# mv -f /etc/fstab- /etc/fstab
No whatever file editing is needed.
I'm not sure I understand this claim. First, the sed command you give
is a file edit. Second, it won't work on my machine.
Anyway, thanks for the information.

You have found the bank of Larn.
I can explain it for you, but I can't understand it for you.
I speak only for myself, and I am unanimous in that!
