I think perhaps Luca's point was more ideological than technical. He's
referring to the fact that WMV is a "closed" codec, owned by Microsoft,
and therefore evil ;-). AVI/MPEG are more "open" codecs, freely
available on many platforms.

I think that's what Luca was getting at...
