Nope nothing like this. I was thinking that this question was simple ..
but I think not, so it could be a monitor problem at least ... but if I
could only check some configuration files of the screensaver, maybe I

xscreensaver saves its users configuration in ~/.xscreensaver
I guess it is possible that you are not running xscreensaver
(as your login ID) and whichever user is running it has a different
configuration... sorry I can't be of more help
