Please read my previous post. I stated that the problem was that I tried to yum update in the fedora rescue environment and that turned out to be a disaster. In that environment, you run into a problem where things like the %preun, %postun, basically the scriptlets fail and it leaves "holes" in tbe rpm process that it is impossible to rpm -e these files. In short, it is a big HUGE mess. That was the frame of reference that I was in. Um... so it is much faster at least, to start all over and get into multi-user mode i.e. level #3 on boot and do the yum update in the correct environment. Well.... live and learn. Also, as for the yum updates with the cman, gfs, dls, gnbd stuff, just rpm -e (remove) these prior to yum update and it all (899MB) runs through. It was a VERY time consuming job for me all because of that itty titty little bug in a major release. *sigh*.. it had to be me. I agree that the GFP-kernel, gnbd-kernel, cman-1.0 are an annoying problem. The thing I did that you did not was include extras repo in the update system. You can also use the --exclude clause to not update things you don't want to update, In addition yum remove will remove any rpms you want to remove and their dependencies. I honestly believe that the install everything was not the real problem but I admit I can't pin down what went wrong for you. -- ======================================================================= The first sign of maturity is the discovery that the volume knob also turns to the left. ------------------------------------------- Aaron Konstam Computer Science Trinity University telephone: (210)-999-7484 -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe: https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list -- No virus found in this incoming message.
