FC4 internet connection

Hi,
I'm new to the list so my question may have been answered previously. I just upgraded from FC2 to 4. I've got an IBM clone computer with an Abit KT7A Raid motherboard, 1GB of RAM, AMD Athlon 1GHz processor, DSL connection to the Internet with a D-Link DI-604 Broadband/Ethernet router connecting 4 computers on my home network.

After I finished upgrading to FC4 I tried checking for updates by running up2date but got error messages. Checking further, it appears that the machine is not connecting to the Internet (I can't call up any other Web sites). I checked the Internet Connection Wizard and it is only giving me the option to connect using a static IP Address rather than an automatically obtained address using DHCP (which I had been using under FC2 just fine). I *do* have a static IP Address and usually run an Internet/e-mail server on another computer but it has been down lately due to hardware problems). The Ethernet card in the machine shows to be active.

Any suggestions? Thanks for any help. You may e-mail me direct if you wish.

Kevin Phillips
