Otto, Thanks a lot man. The problem I had was with my laptop which runs RHELS 2.6.9-5.EL that according to the folks at that site its the one with the issue. My RHELS 2.6.9-5.EL laptop for some reason not have the firmware files on the proper location (I'm not sure if it had them anywhere else). So this is what I did: 1. Tarred the firmware files from their site to /lib/fir ware folder. 2. I issue the echo 100 > /etc/sysconfig/hotplug/timeout 3. depmod -a 4. mdprobe ipw2200 and got no errors. I rebooted to see if it made permanently but not, so I was thinking to use sysctl to make permanently. When I returned home I started the laptop to do it to my surprise dmesg | grep ipw2200 showed: ipw2200: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200/2915 Network Driver, 0.13 ipw2200: Copyright(c) 2003-2004 Intel Corporation ipw2200: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection I'm emailing you from my laptop now. I don't think this is an issue on FC4 due to its kernel but it could help someone else with the old kernel. Thanks Otto & ipw220 folks. Once again & forever Linux roooolz!
