I think this question is best answered by the list managers than a
general posting to the list.  But, here goes my best guess:
(a)  You leave / left the office and you turned on your vacation /
out-of-the office reply message ....  people really hate this.  The
list gets notified of your absence and your email address gets replied
to as well causing a nasty chicken and egg loop.
(b)  You have your email routed to a server that notifies the list
that we need to be added to your no-spam list by going to the website
posted.  This is not as bad, but you should really add us to the list
of people on your accepted list.  Things may even get strange here if
your pages are in another language.
(c)  Your email server goes down from time to time for extended
periods of time.
(d)  Other possible reasons can go here and include such things as
complaints to the list admin, etc.
