When running up2date (up2date --nox --update) i get this message:
The following Packages were marked to be skipped by your configuration:

nfs-utils 1.0.7 12.FC4Config modified
Whats this about? What is nfs-utils?
I haven't used up2date in a long time but it seems to me it has a file
or database that you can change of files whose installation are
skipped. But why are you using up2date rather than yum?
