http://java.sun.com, Fedora doesn't come with the jdk packages

However, Fedora does have a java-1.4.2-gcj-compat package, which
provides all the links to make gcj appear to be a JRE.

You'll still have to export JAVA_HOME, if you use bash perhaps in
~/.bash_profile

To what does one set it?

Another command is to use the alternatives command to select a java. To run this you must be root and type:

   alternatives --config java

You will be prompted which java you will use.
