Actually there are two distinct problems. The first one (or actually the biggest one) being, the use of a beta pilot-link library the broke everything. (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=160926) The other one being udev is slower the a moving glacier when it comes to creating the /dev/ttyUSB* entries which, in turn, causes the pilot-link to timeout.
