I recently bought a Sony Vaio VGN-S260 and I run Fedora Core 3 (and only FC3, no windows) on it with great success. Previously I had an older Sony Vaio super slim laptop which worked great with Linux. On the new S260 I've upgraded the ram to 1Gig and almost everything works without any issues. The only device that I cannot get to work is the built in memory stick reader. I have an external USB memory stick reader that works great, plus I use an external USB hard drive and a USB dual layer dvd burner - they all work great. I have sound, great graphics, etc.. I love the wide screen (1280x800) and Fedora works beautifully on the machine. If you are still looking for a laptop I highly recommend looking at the Sony Vaio laptops.
