Every time I've updated the kernel for Fedora Core 3, I've had to
rebuild madwifi to get wireless working again. That's not the
problem. This time when I tried to rebuild, I got the subject error
message when I ran make. Anyone else tried this? Anyone know how to
fix it. I obviously had all required packages installed in the past
and the update process updated those packages. This time I told it
to update all packages and it finished successfully. I couldn't find
anything suitable in the archives for this list.
Thanks,
Alex
You need kernel-devel installed with FC3 2.6.12-1.1372 to
compile madwifi. This was not true in previous kernels.
dpn
Which package should I dl for a 2.1GHZ Celeron?
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/3/i386/kernel-2.6.12-1.1372_FC3.i586.rpm
or
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/3/i386/kernel-2.6.12-1.1372_FC3.i686.rpm
----
why download?
yum install kernel kernel-devel
Craig
I ended up dl'ing
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/3/i386/kernel-devel-2.6.12-1.1372_FC3.i686.rpm
and madwifi then built and installed Ok.
How would someone know they needed this new package when they had not
needed it before?

read the release notes - see the part about adding kernel modules
Craig
Craig,
I was looking in the release notes as you suggested. I don't see any
thing referring specifically to "adding kernel modules". I'd like to
read what you suggest, but I'm not sure I'm finding it. Could you be
more specific. Maybe a text fragment to search for.
Thanks,
Alex
