I found the parted does not.
I found qtparted should and says about it still in the act menu that

partition is unmounted.
Did anybody do the same in FC4?

Last time I tried parted to resize ext3 it told me I had certain parameters running on the drive preventing resizing.

Unfortunately it didn't tell me which parameters were causing it to bomb out.

At the time I was in a hurry and couldn't find an answer anywhere so re-installed, but you may want to persist with parted some more, as it's error messages were far more direct then qtparted, which just had everything I wanted greyed out.
