I recall reading either in this mailing list or finding a web site where
someone detailed how you can pass to the kernel which network profile
you want enabled during the boot process.

So, for example, you could setup a couple of choices in grub that boot
the same kernel, but with different network profiles specified.  This
would let you choose between booting with eth0 enabled, or wlan0.

Google around.  Hopefully the above gives you enough info to find what
you need to set it up.
