Use yum.
To update the kernel:
yum update kernel
To update all packages:
yum update
To upgrade all packages:
yum upgrade
An upgrade is different from an update, it will include obsoleted
packages.
To add to that, if you want an easy way to set up yum, check out
fedorafaq, where there's downloadable configuration files etc.
