Like Paul I tried to resist replying to this thread when I saw it
start. I only wish to say that I diasagree with the politically
conservative, immigrant wary views express and warn that this
discussion in no way belongs on this list. This anti-immigrant strain
was introduced by taharka - lets keep our politics to ourselves shall
we - you don't want to read a socialist, anti-imperialist rant from me
now do you? ;-)
Hold on there sonny!! While I agree, that this discussion, in no way
belongs on this list, nowhere in your above quoted text, does it imply
anti or pro immigrant views/strain. So, don't start any finger pointing.
I was merely stating that the U.S. may be a laughing stock to some, but
there is no shortage of folks clambering to come here (be it temporary
or permanent) period. Now, if you're referring to my reference of the
book "Alien Nation" (which, BTW is not included in your above quoted
text), that's a horse of a different color. Personally, I don't give a
rat's ass one way or the other about immigration & don't totally agree
with "Alien Nation". However, "Alien Nation" does bring up some very
valid points. Also, myself being African American, I have far more
pressing issues to deal with than anti/pro immigrant views/strains (if
you know what I mean). Feel free to contact me off list if you want to
discuss this further ;-)
cheers, Duncan
Yeah, cheers to you too!!
