I wonder what was > stopping it. I found another FC 3 machine, set up the printers from there (also to test to make sure my print server on Redhat machine works fine). Then I exported the setting: /usr/sbin/system-config-printer-tui --Xexport > settings.xml and import the conf. in the FC 4 box: /usr/sbin/system-config-printer-tui --Ximport < settings.xml After restarted cups, the printers works fine, and apps can see the printers.
