Success. I decided to go ahead and do the upgrade with the skip the boot loader update option. The upgrade seems to have gone well enough since I can reboot. The only downside so far is that 1) yun and up2date don't seem to work... up2date Repository base already added, not adding again initRepo Repository base already added, not adding again Baseurl(s) for repo: ['http://download.fedoralegacy.org/fedora/4/os/i386'] Cannot open/read repomd.xml file for repository: base failure: repodata/repomd.xml from base: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try. An error has occurred: yum.Errors.RepoError See /var/log/up2date for more information yum update Repository base already added, not adding again Setting up Update Process Setting up repositories http://download.fedoralegacy.org/fedora/4/os/i386/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 4] IOError: HTTP Error 404: Date: Fri, 15 Jul 2005 14:45:43 GMT Server: Apache/2.0.51 (Fedora) Content-Length: 327 Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 Trying other mirror. Cannot open/read repomd.xml file for repository: base failure: repodata/repomd.xml from base: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try. ... and 2) all of my RAID-1 mirrors are degraded. That happened last time I tred my test run of the FC4 installer and I was able to hotadd back the other slices without any problems. Jack
