Thanks again,
While installing 2.6.12, I must have used rpm -Uvh so old one is removed.
I have handelled /etc/grub.conf well, so no issues there (3 boot, 2 hdd and like that).
I will try as suggested and also before that rpm -ivh --force --test kernelfilename.rpm to see the intelligent part of rpm command (it should alarm me). My fedora box is without net connection (internel modem sm56 problem) so I cannot use yum. I get everything manually downloaded on other box.
If I just put 2.6.11 vmlinuz and related init....file in root and edit /etc/grub.conf suitably will it work? I mean is there no record in the system about what lies in /boot ? I will try to find this by rpm -q kernel-2.6.11
<exact-packagename-here.

Well, I have the older kernel still installed so i just choose it
from the grub boot menu..
Or change it to be default from /etc/grub.conf:
default=0
then count 0,1,2 for the title lines and when you found:
title Fedora Core (2.6.11-1.1369_FC4)
that's it. change default to that number. i think it's 1 or you
have been using normal "yum update" regulary..
Otherwise if you don't have it installed i cannot tell how to install
older kernels with yum.. manually you can download it and do:
rpm -ivh --force kernel-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4<tab>

And from bugzilla there's mention that the latest rawhide kernels
will fix it.. but don't really know what that means with fedora,
the development FC5 kernels or what because the mirrors don't have
any rawhide directories like it was with redhat linux.
