In FC1-3, and RH releases before that, "Search for Files" off the Main
Menu (which has been moved to Places, I suppose sensibly) made "Find in
Folder" a field I could change, and often did, to just / ; but
in FC4 I get only a choice between accepting only Home, or narrowing it to
something below that, or "other" -- which still limits me to Home.
When I select he "home" drop-down box I see choices filesystem which is the same as "/", as well as each mounted drive, listed separately. At the bottom there is other... which brings up a standard GNOME file requester, to select any sub folder that is mounted.

Unless I'm missing something really basic, this is absolutely
wrong-headed, and smacks of MS's nannyism. What I *usually* need with this
app is to find some config file which I have to become root to edit -- and
maybe even to read ; but if I wanted to start running through slocate,
whereis, and who knows what all else against a root prompt, I'd do that.

Please correct my basic miscomprehension, if it is one; or tell me how, if
there's a way I don't see; or change it back! Pretty please. With sugar on
it.
