have tried with FC3 och FC4 and latest debian with same results, got it working with gentoo but that is too slow for the computer does anyone know how to solve this?

Did you read your install help and try the various no* options to turn off various hardware detection?

If you hava a pcmcia card installed, take it out.
Remove any USB devices.
Unplug anything else you can easily unplug.
