Both Windows and Linux can play a music CD. So why can Windows show the
contents of a music CD but not Linux? Or am I missing something?

If it shows the contents in a form more meaningful than 'track01',
'track02', etc., it is looking it up in an internet database:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CDDB
Some Linux software can do it too, but you may have to configure it
to use http://www.freedb.org/.

Thanks, Les. Just glad to know what's what about this. I was just confused. Now I see what this is all about.
