See if there's a > lib/ieee1394.ko I've been discussing this issue on the linux1394-user list as well. The problem I'm trying to solve is how to use my LaCie firewire disc and have it detected when booting the system. There is some shortcomings in the ieee1394 module and I was adviced to use the disable_irm option. This option works great when I manually do modprobe ohci1394 from the command line. But when I did a boot, this option was not honored until I recreated initrd as you suggested. Also I was told that it should not be necessary to include the ieee1394 module in initrd so I just ran the mkinitrd command (mkinitrd <initrd.image> <kernel.version>). The option from /etc/modprobe.conf seems to be used (at least dmesg outputs that irm is disabled). But still I see the same error when the firewire disc is detected: ieee1394: Host added: ID:BUS[0-00:1023] GUID[00608f0000007239] ieee1394: Node added: ID:BUS[0-01:1023] GUID[00d04b5419086e8d] ieee1394: The root node is not cycle master capable; selecting a new root node and resetting... ieee1394: Node changed: 0-01:1023 -> 0-00:1023 ieee1394: Node changed: 0-00:1023 -> 0-01:1023 But when if remove the ohci module and then do modprobe on it again, everything works. And ideas to whats causing this? Thanks -- Per Thomas
